I know I'm not alone in people who celebrate (and harbor an almost unhealthy attachment to) their dog's birthdays!! My dog, Sadie Bug, turned one year old on December 20th, so what better way to celebrate than with her favorite treat: peanut butter! I made this gluten-free cake in no time and she devoured it!
Dog review: "Woof! Woof!" (that means five stars)
1 cup rice flour
1/4 cup natural peanut butter
1/2 ripe banana
1/2 tsp baking powder
tiny pinch of salt
*Earth Balance to grease doughnut pan
Makes: 6 doughnut cakes
1: Preheat oven to 350F
2: Mix and mash all ingredients
3: Lightly grease doughnut pan with Earth Balance and fill to the top with a spoon
4: Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Peanut Butter Banana Frosting (aka Monkey Butter)
2 tbsp natural peanut butter
1/2 banana
Mash together and spread!
Note: These treats can be "frosted" and then frozen in an air-tight container, later being defrosted in the refrigerator for treats over the next month or two! Yum!
This treat is gluten-free minus the Nutter Butter I put in the center of the cake in the top photo (my dog loves 'em!).
Note: All Pup-Friendly recipes can be made for humans and dogs. :)
